From the Chair

Happy New Year and best wishes to all of you in achieving your personal objectives in 2014!

Regarding professional objectives, 2014 looks to be a year full of exciting opportunities for CACC members.  The Board will continue to strive to fulfill CACC’s mission by:

  • bringing you informative member meetings with engaging guest speakers on a quarterly basis
  • offering six WorldatWork certification courses locally
  • providing an opportunity for further professional development through the mentoring program

and MORE.  I encourage you to get involved.  There is still time to join a committee and I’m convinced that you will find serving the association a satisfying professional growth opportunity.

I have found my time on the Board to date to be very rewarding and look forward to my responsibilities as Past Chair beginning in February.  In retrospect, we accomplished a lot in 2013 and while I can’t mention everything or everyone here, I would like to recognize two dedicated individuals:

  • Karly Allison-Poe, your 2014 Chair, for partnering with each Board Member and then developing a Business Continuity Guide for reference going forward.  CACC will certainly be in good hands under her leadership.
  • Daryl Bennett, a long-time CACC member and prior Board Member, whose passion resulted in the development of our Work-Life initiative.  Best of luck to Daryl as he leaves Charlotte for an exciting new job!

As my year as Chair ends, I’d like to focus you on a beginning – the beginning of CACC’s 22nd year!  Please see Eileen Ekey’s article for specifics about our annual meeting in February where we’ll be kicking off the year with a little extra something (or should I say someone?) exciting for you!

I’d like to extend a special thanks to all of the 2013 Board and Committee members for their service and commitment to making CACC such a successful association.

Sincerely,

Tracy Solida, CBP, CCP, SPHR
2013 CACC Chair

Community Outreach Update

Thank you to all CACC members who have assisted with our successful support of the charitable organizations that we have sponsored in 2013!  It was a very successful year. In November, our membership donated 28 items and $70 cash towards the “coffee and non-diary creamer” drive for the Charlotte Rescue Mission.  Kristin Kelly, Director of Development, for Charlotte Rescue Mission, expressed her appreciation of the donations, but also for the opportunity to speak with the membership.  The coffee and creamer will assist them during this busy time of the year.

CACC is partnering with Dress for Success Charlotte on February 12, 2014.  The mission of Dress for Success is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.  This year we would like to ask members to participate in an administrative needs drive for the charity.  With 1,000 people utilizing the services of Dress for Success Charlotte annually, donations of white copy paper, bathroom tissue and paper towels would greatly benefit the organization.  Of course, financial donations are always welcomed! Checks should be made out to Dress for Charlotte.

Click here for more information or visit www.dressforsuccess.org. Your donations and support of this charitable event is greatly appreciated.

Mentoring

2013 Mentoring Program Year Comes to a Close…2014 Mentoring Program to Launch in February!

Once again we had a successful Mentoring Program year – 2013 marked our 5th anniversary for the CACC Mentoring Program!  Many of the participants have commented on their positive experience; and I for one looked forward to my meetings with my Mentee.  December/January ends the “official” relationship for the 2013 Mentoring participants, but from my own experience, the relationship, or more like friendship, continues.

We will be launching the 2014 Mentoring Program in February under the leadership of Chris Walker.  Please watch for announcements and let Chris (or me) know of your interest as a Mentee or Mentor.
