From the Chair
Hello CACC Members!
Thank you to everyone for attending our February Annual Meeting. We hosted a successful event at The Employers Association with featured speakers, Lisa Toppin, Karen DeMay and Kevin Raines. This panel provided some great insight on "Compensation Challenges and Opportunities in a Brave New World". What a great way to kick-off the new year!
Nearly nine years ago I attended my first CACC meeting in downtown Charlotte. I was invited by another member who was nice enough to introduce me to the Charlotte HR market. Like most people, it was painful for me to open up and network with people I didn't know; especially people who had more experience than me in the field I was interested in pursuing. However, I was fortunate enough to meet some great members/mentors who went out of their way to make me feel welcome. Because of their effort I pursued becoming more involved in CACC and was given the opportunity to serve on the board beginning in 2013. I'm very thankful for CACC because without the connections and opportunities this group provides I would have had a much more difficult time finding my path in Charlotte.
I would encourage all members to engage where you can with CACC! You'll find that CACC is a great way to develop your network and career. Here are a few ways to get involved:
Member Socials
We'll be hosting our first social of 2017 at Friendship Trays of Charlotte on April 28. This is a great way to meet fellow members and serve the community at the same time!
Member Meetings
We have a great speaker lined up for May 10 to speak about leadership. This meeting will be held at TIAA-CREF in Charlotte.
CACC hosted [email protected] courses
Every year CACC hosts several [email protected] courses in Charlotte to give members an opportunity to gain their certification and connect with a broader network of total rewards professionals.
There are many more opportunities such as serving on a committee or hosting a member meeting at your company facility, just to name a couple.
It is an honor to be your Chairperson for 2017. I look forward to the events we have planned and working with my fellow board members to implement ways to grow CACC for current and future members! If I can be of any assistance please don't hesitate to email me at [email protected].
